Gomez started her acting career in 2002 on the popular children's television series Barney & Friends. In her teens, she rose to prominence for starring as Alex Russo on the Disney Channel television show Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-2012). She also has a role in the Hulu comedy show, the mystery Only Murders in the Building (21-21-222). The latter series earned Gomez not only praise from critics but also nominations for a Golden Globe Award, and as a producer and producer, an Primetime Emmy Award .
