Kelly Clarkson became the personification of the American Dream when she won the very first episode of American Idol. Her debut album, which she released in 2004, was an instant hit after which she switched to a different label in order to gain more control over her music , and her next album was one of the albums that sold the highest number of copies among American Idol alum. Her achievements include extensive touring performing, recording many Top Ten songs, publishing two multi-Platinum album, being a mentor and co-writing much the music she has written. Additionally, she has won a number of honors. Four American Music Awards were presented to her, as well as 12 Billboard Music Awards. She has also won two Grammy Awards and three MTV Video Music Awards. She has been awarded 98 major music awards nominations, and won seventy of these.
